COLLEGE DEVELOPMENT To all parent and serious student / athletes, The Rookies College Development Program wishes to invite all serious High School student / athletes to an open pre-program workout at Can West Global Park, on Thursday August 28, 2008 starting at 6:30pm. All student / athletes should be prepared to be involved in a full workout so please come dressed accordingly. The instructional workout will conclude at approximately 9:00pm, with a parent information meeting to be held in the stands starting at 7:00pm where a full program information package will be handed out. By attending this workout, you are NOT obligated to continue with the program. Please pre-register by calling Rookies @ 783-HITS or by email: email@rookiescages.com so we can properly prepare a practice plan. The cost of the open session will be $20 per athlete, with all cheques being made out to Rookies Baseball Experience. PROGRAM HISTORY Rookies is proud to offer a one of kind Baseball program available in Manitoba. This will be the 7th consecutive year that this program is in operation, and will continue to provide top quality training over the winter months. Once again, there will be trips planned to the U.S. in the fall and a spring trip to Memphis, Tennessee in the Spring. In recent years, the Rookies College Development program has traveled to Kentucky, Florida and Texas. Rookies is also proud to have assisted over 40 players move on to Post-Secondary institutions across North America, not to mention 5 players being drafted by Major League Baseball Teams. COACHING STAFF Rookies prides itself on providing the best baseball instruction that this province has to offer. The coaching staff is combined with all the instruction needed for all aspects of the game. All of the current coaches have played at some or all of the following levels: National Level, College Level and Professional Level. Gord Leduchowski - Head Coach 2-time Team Canada Player - Played College Baseball out of Mayville State University. Coached Team Canada at World Championships Darryl Bruce - Pitching Coach Played College Baseball at Mayville State University. Played 3 years of professional baseball. Starting 6th year with the program. Max Poulin - Assistant Coach Team Canada member and current Winnipeg Goldeye with 6 years professional experience Charles Peterson - Guest Assistant Coach First Round Draft pick with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
