Rookies Baseball Experience has been committed to developing baseball players throughout Manitoba for 15 years.  Our goals are to promote the game of baseball as well as provide professional instruction to athletes of all ages and abilities. Our team of baseball instructors have all had extensive playing and coaching careers at the college or professional level.

Program Goals

            Our primary focus of the program is to provide a fun and instructional opportunity for community club baseball players.  Within this framework we will assist players to increase their baseball skill levels from our experienced instructors.  This is a “hands on clinic” that incorporates practice drills and simulated game situations.  This is an ideal program for any age group and skill level.

            The Clinic also focuses on developing coaches at the community club level. We understand the commitment and dedication of coaches throughout Winnipeg and we want to provide our services to better educate coaches about the technical and situational aspects of the game.

Program Outline

Rookies Baseball Experience will provide a 3 hour instructional clinic for the development of both players and coaches. The clinic is aimed for the mosquito, peewee and bantam ages and incorporates the “A” and “AA” levels.  Each 3 hour session will have two teams participate as well as their respective coaching staffs. The clinic will take place at the home field of the team. Coaches will receive a 1 hour coaching clinic followed by a 2 hour baseball camp for the athletes conducted by Rookies instructors. Coaches are encouraged to participate in the player sessions to help facilitate the practice as well as become more familiar with the drills and concepts provided by our instructors. As a follow up to the 3 hour clinic, coaches will receive an additional hour with the instructor to provide additional information or to answer any questions from the coaches. 

Player session

The 2 hour instructional clinic for players will include the following:

1. Introduction of Program and Concepts.
2. Warm up drills and Stretching Excercises
3. Skill development

          Hitting (drills focusing on hitting fundamentals)

          Pitching ( throwing techniques)

          Fielding (infield and outfield drills)

1. Situational drills

          Cut offs and relays

          Positional play

1. Baseball I.Q. 

Coaching Clinic

The 1 hour coaching clinic prior to the player session will include:

1.  Practice planning and baseball drills
2. Getting the best of your practice session
3. Baseball strategies and game situation ideas
4. Player positioning and situations

          Bunt defense

          Relays

1. Skill development and proper baseball fundamentals

          Hitting

          Pitching

          Fielding

          Catching

1. Follow up session

          2 weeks following the clinic to answer any additional questions by the coaches and to reinforce skills learned in the initial session.

Fees:

         $30 per athlete

         $20 per coach
